Out of the Box Organizing knows that moving is stressful enough without its clients feeling locked into a complete organizing package. Therefore, we have designed our services to be a la carte style, thus providing the flexibility to select any or all of the four stages of moving services that are right for you and your family.
It is good to know that during any of these stages you might want to choose to have an OBO assistant help unwrap items, do light cleaning, breakdown boxes, or help put away your belongings in pre-designated places.
Laying the Groundwork
- A Complimentary Consultation
To help you determine which services are right for you and your family, OBO offers a complimentary personal consultation with Heather Ouida, principal and founder. During this consult, Heather will either talk with you by phone or personally visit your existing or new space to review such matters as: how you ideally would like to utilize OBO’s services, what you like and dislike about the organization of your current space, priorities for rooms you would like to be sorted and/or unpacked.
- The Proposal Will Include
After the consultation, if you decide to utilize OBO¹s services, we will develop a specific proposal to clarify options and ensure all parties know what to expect. The proposal will include: choice of services that might suit you best, including pricing and scheduling information, ways to maintain and/or change the positioning of your belongings once you are in your new space and suggestions on various types of storage or organizing systems that you may want to consider.
Stage One — Getting Ready
According to many experts, houses and apartments sell faster and for higher prices when they are “ de-cluttered, pared down and look orderly” to potential buyers. OBO will help you achieve this by helping you sort, get rid of, store and organize your belongings before you sell and in preparation for your upcoming move.
Stage Two — Moving Day
OBO staff will come to your home the day the movers are bringing your boxes and furniture to your new space and help you decide where boxes and furniture should be placed. By helping you to begin unpacking and sorting your belongings, we are able to reduce the strain of what is usually a very chaotic day. Our goal is to make the day less stressful for you through our knowledge, experience, and insightful support.
Stage Three — The Day After
Seldom is a move completed in one day! Typically, it is on the day after that the real work begins as you are faced with the many unpacked cartons and cautiously placed furnishings that are the makings of your yet-to-be realized new home or environment. In Stage Three, OBO works to put the pieces together by coming to your house or apartment the day after your move date (or whenever you want us) to help you start sorting and unpacking all of your boxes, based upon your specific needs as discussed during the consultation.
Stage Four — After Some Time
Once you’ve lived with something for awhile, you may decide that things aren’t working quite the way you envisioned, or you may realize you just haven’t had the time needed to complete unpacking or sorting household items or paraphernalia. Perhaps, for example, your winter clothes were left in the boxes from your summer move, or books still need to be put on shelves. Whether it’s a few weeks or months after your move date, OBO is available to either fine tune original arrangements or unpack belongings that are still in boxes.
