I always feel a little awkward writing about myself. (How do I rave about myself without raving about myself?) However, I know I would be reluctant to invite
someone into my home and work closely with them without knowing something about them, so I hope this profile helps you get to know me.
I built Out of the Box Organizing (OBO) based on my proven business and educational performance and on my sound principles of professional and ethical practice. Out of the Box Organizing provides personalized organizing services for families and individuals faced with the complexities of a residential move. Based on my unwavering commitment to helping people progress seamlessly and successfully through the moving process, OBO’s hallmarks are the personal concern, care and deep respect that are consistently shown for each client’s needs.
I set the tone for OBO by drawing on a wide range of skills and aptitudes, each key to the conceptual, interpersonal and organizational abilities required for this successful venture. After completing my undergraduate degree in psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, I received my masters in child development from Tufts University. Before residing in Manhattan, my husband and I lived in London for seven years where I received my learning specialist degree from England’s York University. While in London, I taught at and was the head of the learning specialist department at a British private school for five years. After moving to Manhattan in 2002 I worked as a middle school learning specialist at The Dalton School. I left Dalton when my second son was born and started my own tutoring business, which I slowly transitioned out of when my children became school age to focus on starting and running Out of the Box Organizing.
My professional memberships include: NAPO (National Association of
Professional Organizing); The Dyslexia Institute; In Good Company (an
organization for women business owners).
