ABOUT HEATHER OUIDA

I always feel a little awkward writing about myself. (How do I rave about myself without raving about myself?) However, I know I would be reluctant to invite someone into my home and work closely with them without knowing something about them, so I hope this profile helps you get to know me.

Before residing in Manhattan, my husband and I lived in London for seven years, where I taught and was the head of the learning specialist department at a British school. When my husband and I first moved to Manhattan, I was a learning specialist at The Dalton School, as well as running my own tutoring business. As much as I enjoyed teaching and tutoring, I slowly transitioned out of education when my two boys became school age to focus on starting and running Out of the Box Organizing.

I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and received my MA in child development from Tufts University. While living in London I received my learning specialist degree from England’s York University.

I am a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers, on the board of In Good Company Workplaces (a Manhattan-based organization to help women entrepreneurs), a luminary member of Step Up Women’s Network, and on the event committee of the Todd Ouida Children’s Foundation.
